The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will reopen the online application window for the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 from December 27 to December 30, 2025. The decision has been taken to provide a one-time opportunity to candidates who had initiated the registration process but failed to complete the final submission of their applications.

The CTET 2026 online registration process commenced on November 27 and officially closed on December 18, 2025. Following the closure of the application window, CBSE received several grievances from candidates who claimed that technical issues and alleged non-responsiveness of the application portal prevented them from completing their registrations. Many candidates requested an extension of the deadline to enable them to submit their applications successfully.

However, after a detailed review, the Board stated that the portal was largely functioning without major disruptions. CBSE revealed that more than 25.30 lakh candidates successfully submitted their applications, including 3.53 lakh submissions on the penultimate day and over 4.14 lakh applications on the final day. These figures, the Board noted, indicated that the portal remained operational throughout the registration period.

CBSE disclosed that 1,61,127 candidates had started the registration process but did not complete the final submission. These candidates will now be allowed to complete their applications between 11 am on December 27 and 11:59 pm on December 30, 2025.

The Board has clearly stated that this facility is strictly a one-time measure. No fresh registrations will be permitted, and candidates must carefully verify and correct their details during final submission, as no further correction window will be provided once this period concludes.
