 ‘Critical thinking plays a pivotal role in our daily life,’ says an Apeejay alumna

The Alumni Committee of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently organised an Expert Talk under the “Alumni Connect Series” on the topic ‘Critical Thinking in Problem Solving & Decision Making’. The session saw student participation from all the batches of  BTech, MCA, MBA, BCA, BBA and B.Com (H). 

Ms. Neha Sharma, an alumna of MCA 2008-2011 batch, was the resource person. Ms. Neha is presently working as Senior Executive Officer, Civil Servant in UK Civil Services at His Majesty Revenue and Customs (HMRC). She has worked as a Project Consultant and Research Assistant at National Institute of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj (NIRPR), Hyderabad and has also worked as a Research Scholar with RBI Chair Professor Indra Kant Sulibhavi at Council for Social Development, Hyderabad.

Ms. Neha resorted to various real-life examples to explain to the students, how critical thinking plays a pivotal role in our daily life. She also talked, “Critical thinking sharpens problem-solving and decision-making skills, by fostering clarity, objectivity, innovative, evidence-based solutions and the importance of ‘reaction’ and ‘response’ to every question.”

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, appreciated the resource person, on how articulately she had conveyed some of the complex topics in his lecture. Dr. Bagga emphasised that critical thinking is a vital skill for navigating both professional and personal life, as it improves your ability to reason, understand complex issues, and approach problems systematically and creatively.

Dr. Rajneesh Arya, Dean, School of Management & Mr. Amanpartap Singh Pall, Faculty, School of Information Technology, were the coordinators of the expert talk. The anchor of the event was Ms. Aanchal Bhalla of MCA Semester 2.
