Recently, students of Classes III to V from Ashoka, Akbar, Tagore, and Vivekananda Houses at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, took part in a refreshing activity titled Waste to Wonder. The initiative encouraged young learners to turn everyday waste into useful, artistic creations while understanding the value of recycling.
Old newspapers, usually tossed aside, became the canvas for innovation. The students crafted pinwheels, carry bags, baskets, and even animal figures, all from recycled paper. Each piece reflected not just creativity but also a thoughtful approach toward sustainability.

Learning by doing
The activity wasn’t just about art. It was a lesson in environmental responsibility. As the students cut, folded, and shaped their materials, they also learned how small efforts can create a big impact. It was an engaging way to help them connect imagination with purpose. Teachers guided them through the process, encouraging original ideas and practical thinking.
By the end of the session, classrooms buzzed with pride and colour. The projects displayed around the room stood as a reminder that waste can, in fact, become wonderful. What this really means is that when children are given the right direction, they learn to see beauty and utility in the simplest things.

Inspiring young environmentalists
Through this hands-on experience, Apeejay School reinforced its ongoing commitment to nurturing responsible citizens. Activities like these remind students that protecting the planet starts with mindful choices, thoughtful habits, and everyday awareness — proving that even the smallest creative act can make a world of difference in shaping a sustainable future.
