In an increasingly digital world, users interact daily with websites, mobile apps, software platforms, and online resources. From educational portals and e-learning apps to banking platforms and social media, the quality of these experiences depends heavily on User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI). Together, UX and UI form the foundation of every successful digital product, ensuring usability, engagement, and trust.

User Experience (UX) focuses on how smoothly and efficiently users can achieve their goals. It involves research, planning, and design that make navigation intuitive, content easy to access, and interactions seamless. Whether a student is filling out an online application, using a learning app, or accessing digital library resources, strong UX reduces confusion, saves time, and enhances satisfaction. A platform with poor UX can frustrate users and discourage repeated use, regardless of how valuable the content may be.

User Interface (UI), on the other hand, focuses on the visual and interactive aspects of digital platforms. It includes layouts, colour schemes, typography, icons, animations, and buttons. A well-designed UI makes apps and websites visually appealing and easy to understand. For students and young users, an attractive and consistent interface increases engagement and improves comprehension, especially in educational apps and online tools.

“UX and UI are essential across all digital resources, like websites, mobile applications, software dashboards, e-commerce platforms, gaming interfaces, and even smart devices. A fast-loading website, a user-friendly mobile app, or a clearly structured learning management system reflects strong UX and UI design. These elements also build credibility, as users tend to trust platforms that look professional and function smoothly across devices,” explains Swati Chaudhari, an alumna from Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA).

From a career perspective, UX and UI design are among the most in-demand skills in today’s job market, she explained. “As businesses, educational institutes, and start-ups expand their digital presence, the need for skilled UX researchers, UI designers, product designers, and interaction specialists continues to grow. Students with an interest in creativity, psychology, design, and technology can pursue careers in UX/UI through degrees in design, computer science, or specialised certification courses. Industry trends indicate strong global demand, attractive salaries, and opportunities to work on innovative digital products,” she added.
