Newspaper in Education (NIE) workshop events are crucial as they nurture creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in students. They provide hands-on learning experiences, enhance motor skills, and promote environmental awareness through recycling. Additionally, they boost confidence, encourage collaboration, and make learning fun, fostering a well-rounded development beyond traditional academics.

Keeping this in mind, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park organised a vibrant and engaging NIE workshop for students of Classes IV and V. The event, designed to foster creativity and environmental consciousness, provided a unique platform for young minds to explore their artistic potential through newspaper craft-making. Guided by expert mentors, the session turned out to be an unforgettable experience, blending fun, learning, and sustainability.

Mr Sushil Kumar and Ms Shilpa introduced students to the art of crafting with recycled materials. The primary objective was to encourage children to think innovatively and repurpose waste into beautiful creations. The students were thrilled to learn various techniques to mold newspapers into delightful animals such as rabbits, dogs, and other imaginative figures.

Working in groups, the students collaborated enthusiastically, sharing ideas and assisting one another. This team-based approach not only nurtured their creativity but also strengthened their sense of teamwork and cooperation. The hands-on experience allowed them to explore concepts of shapes and designs practically, making the learning process both enjoyable and educational.

Beyond creativity, the workshop underscored the importance of sustainability. By transforming discarded newspapers into artistic pieces, students gained a deeper understanding of recycling and reusing materials effectively. The session served as a valuable lesson in environmental responsibility, reinforcing the idea that art and sustainability can go hand in hand.

As the workshop progressed, the excitement in the room became palpable. Each student took immense pride in their handcrafted masterpiece, eager to showcase their work to peers and teachers. The joy of creating something meaningful from simple materials was evident in their beaming smiles.

The NIE workshop at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the young participants. It not only honed their motor skills and artistic abilities but also instilled the crucial values of teamwork and eco-consciousness. The students walked away inspired, carrying home their creative works as cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for sustainable art.
