‘Covid’: Poem by Lakshya Sharma, Apeejay School, Noida

Started in 2019, 2020 being its peak
Who knows what caused this massive leak,
It would leave its mark in world history on a highlighted page
Leaving all people in a brooding cage.

People were devastated, uncertainty was everywhere
The virus made people run for their lives here and there,
The world came to a halt, everyone guessing who’s fault
China, Bats, Nature, Problems were a lot!

In these gloomy times, families came together strong
Refusing necessities would certainly be wrong,
Lockdowns didn’t help, they did affect a little
People’s health increasingly became brittle.

Then came 2021 with vaccine as a boon
It made all the people swoon
They thought this tragic misery will come to an end,
But the road of fate had taken another bend.

The delta wave came fast, people economically and mentally bled,
It left all the people in its grasp, dead
For the first time people thought doomsday was here,
They still fought, with their hands bare

Doctors were astonished with the might of the third wave,
It made the situation a whole lot grave,
People uncertain of future, turned to malicious practices to get things they crave
It led to very disheartening incidents with the naive.

Now some say it is rising again
Ringing the pain and suffering, again,
People are however steadfast, with the past experiences of scare
Till we are all vaccinated, we can’t win against it, beware.
