As part of their community service activities, members of Apeejay Stya University (ASU) , Gurugram recently visited Earth Saviour Foundation, a renowned NGO dedicated to providing shelter and care to abandoned individuals. The foundation was founded by Mr. Ravi Kalra, a humanitarian devoted to serving the helpless. After his passing, the organisation is now managed by his son, Mr. Jass Kalra. The foundation provides shelter to over 1,200 individuals, ranging from 18 years old to 100.

This visit was arranged by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor, School of Education at ASU, to help students and members understand the struggles of neglected and underprivileged people in the society.

A student recounts his experience of visiting the Foundation. He said, “During our visit, we came across several tragic yet inspiring stories of individuals who once had successful careers but were abandoned due to unfortunate circumstances.”

The Earth Saviour Foundation houses many heart wrenching stories of individuals staying there.  One such story is of Summit Sinha, a mechanical engineer who had a promising career. However, his life took a tragic turn when he suffered severe burns on his hand. The injury made it impossible for him to continue working in his field, causing him to lose his aspirations and career goals. The trauma of this incident was overwhelming, and he eventually suffered a brain hemorrhage, which further worsened his condition. Now, he resides at the Earth Saviour Foundation, where he receives care and support.
