For Mr Sandeep Sharma, a seasoned technology leader and Head of Emerging Technologies in Network Services at Tech Mahindra, education is not just about academic excellence, it’s about raising compassionate, well-rounded individuals. His children, Soaham Krishna Sharma (Class 12-B, PCM stream) and Ira Sharma (Class 4-B), are studying at Apeejay School, Saket. Having been part of the school community since Soaham’s nursery days, Mr. Sharma shares how the institution has shaped his children’s academic growth, leadership qualities, and moral values.

Read edited excerpts:

How is Apeejay School, Saket supporting your child in preparing for higher education and future career goals?

The school offers excellent subject options and highly qualified teachers. My son receives consistent and constructive feedback, which is vital for improvement. More importantly, Apeejay nurtures students to think beyond academics, instilling human values along with technical knowledge. This focus on shaping better human beings, not just professionals, truly sets the school apart from others.

How has the school contributed to your son’s leadership and teamwork skills?

Apeejay provides numerous opportunities for leadership. Soaham has served as class monitor in several classes and taken on roles such as vice captain in various school groups. These groups focus on activities beyond academics, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving. Since he has been here from nursery, the environment has steadily nurtured his confidence, communication, and ability to lead.

How would you describe the school’s approach to holistic development?

The school’s culture encourages students to participate in multiple assignments and group activities. It’s about all-round development, academic rigor, leadership roles, creative projects, and social responsibility. This holistic approach ensures children grow into well-balanced individuals.

Has your son benefited from mentorship or career guidance at school?

The school regularly organises mentorship and career counselling sessions. While I can’t say if my son has acted directly on them yet, I appreciate the school’s commitment to ensuring such resources are available for every student. It reflects their dedication to preparing children for life beyond school.
