At Apeejay School, Saket, leadership is nurtured from a young age, and Isba Naaz, a Class IX student, is a shining example. As the Director of the Interact Club, she not only takes initiative in school activities but also inspires peers to become active citizens. From environmental rallies to donation drives, her leadership is rooted in empathy, purpose, and action. Let’s find out what leading with a cause means to her.
How did you become the Director of the Interact Club?
I’ve been a part of the Interact Club since Class VI. I was nominated as director in Class VIII. There was no formal interview; our school observes how active and responsible students are over time. I’ve always been involved in our club’s drives and volunteered whenever possible. That commitment led to my nomination.
What does your role entail?
I help coordinate the club’s activities — from rallies and donation drives to awareness campaigns. I spread messages in classrooms, collect donations, and help plan initiatives. I also represent the club during community events. It’s a leadership role, but it’s also about being hands-on and involved in every step.
What recent initiatives have you led or supported?
In May, we organised a ‘One Onion, One Potato’ donation drive for needy people. We also supported a blood donation camp and led a rally from school to PVR Saket, raising awareness about plastic pollution. Our posters and slogans helped us start real conversations in the community.
How has being a part of the club shaped you?
It’s helped me grow in confidence and communication. I’ve learnt that leadership isn’t about titles — it’s about participation, teamwork, and taking initiative. I’ve also become more aware of social and environmental issues and try to bring that awareness into my home and society.
What message would you give to peers?
Get involved. Whether it’s cleaning a park or joining a donation drive, every action counts. Leadership starts with showing up and caring. You don’t need a position to make a difference.
