In the competitive landscape of academic excellence, Moloy Sikka shines as a remarkable example of dedication and passion.

Currently in Class 12 at Apeejay School, Noida, Moloy has made a significant mark by securing the third highest aggregate in the Science stream with 87.8% and achieving the highest score in Computer Science with a stellar 98 in all sessions of the 11th standard for the 2023-24 academic year.

Apeejay Newsroom had the pleasure of speaking with Moloy to learn more about his journey and insights.

Moloy, could you tell us about your journey at Apeejay School and how it has contributed to your success?

I first joined Apeejay School in grade 3 and studied here until grade 7. After a brief period away, I returned in grade 11.

The continuity and the environment here have greatly supported my academic growth. The school has a strong focus on creating a conducive learning atmosphere, which has been instrumental in my achievements.

How do you approach your studies and manage your time effectively?

I create a detailed schedule that spaces out my syllabus evenly. This helps me cover all the material within the available time.

I believe in making the study material engaging rather than just memorising it. This approach helps me retain information better and perform well in exams.

What challenges did you face in your studies, and how did you overcome them?

Chemistry was a bit challenging due to its rote memorization requirements. However, my chemistry teacher was incredibly supportive. She guided me on using mnemonics and effective memorization techniques, which helped me overcome this challenge.

How do you balance your schoolwork with other activities?

After school, I take some time to relax, have a meal, and play the guitar, which is one of my hobbies. Once I feel refreshed, I dive back into my practice books and continue working until my evening classes. This balance helps me stay focused and productive.

What do you think sets Apeejay School apart in terms of academic support and environment?

The learning environment at Apeejay is exceptional. The teachers are highly dedicated and engaged, which motivates students like me. The supportive and driven student community also plays a significant role in maintaining focus and striving for excellence.

How do you view the quality of teaching at Apeejay?

The quality of teaching at Apeejay is quite impressive. The teachers here are more attentive and effective compared to my experiences elsewhere. Their support has been a key factor in my academic success.

What are your future plans and how do you plan to achieve them?

I am preparing for the JEE exams and other entrance tests for engineering colleges. My goal is to obtain an engineering degree, and I am considering specialising in physics or programming.

Additionally, I am excited to be the president of the Code Club at school, which provides a fantastic opportunity for further growth in my area of interest.

What advice would you give to fellow students aiming for academic success?

Maintaining interest in the subject matter is crucial. Understanding the context and background of the content makes learning more meaningful. Engage with the material actively, and it will lead to better retention and performance.
