Share your recent achievements in extracurricular activities.

I have been involved in several events and competitions in my time here at Apeejay School. From learning the key basics of this classical dance form to honing my skills even further, I passed the Praveshika exam in Kathak early on in my life, which gave me a sense of confidence each time I went up on the stage to perform. Since then, my love for classical dance has uplifted me to perform on stage for almost 10 years of my life now, which has constituted a piece of myself that I’ll always cherish. In the field of Oration, my love for public speaking developed very early on in my life. From achieving my first win in a newspaper reading competition in Class II to writing scripts and hosting events in Class XII, I gradually increased my interest in Public speaking, which allowed me to build my social skills and avidly engage with other people.
How did you become interested in these activities?
As a child, my parents always encouraged me to take part in extracurricular activities and work on my hobbies. Music always attracted me and made me happy, which became the reason for my passion for dance. On the other hand, public speaking was encouraged to me as it is considered crucial for the development of a person’s social skills. Gradually, I realised my passion for speaking on stage, which motivated me to hone my public speaking skills further.
How did your school support your journey?
For the 13 years of my life that I spent at my school, I was always encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities by my teachers, who wanted to see me grow as an individual. They always supported my desire to participate and rectify the errors I made, which allowed me to improve substantially.

How have these activities honed your personality?
My parents, as well as my teachers, have always encouraged me to take part in extracurricular activities, which would fuel my interests. I was able to create a safe space to express myself, which came to be of great value in my life. It also allowed me to develop my social skills, which played a paramount role in shaping my personality as a teenager.
What kind of dance do you pursue?
Being a classical dancer, I have been most attracted to Kathak. I find it quite beautiful and soothing to perform. I have performed Bharatnatyam as well several times in my school life, which allowed me to come out of my comfort zone and challenge myself by performing something new.
Who is your inspiration for it?
My inspiration has always been my parents, who always desired for me to excel in my life. My sister, who taught me a large part of it all and encouraged me to become better each day and my school teachers, who worked on me every day to provide me with the best opportunities available. I am extremely grateful for these people who taught me that life flows from you and not at you, and that we can shape our lives however we want them to be.
