Securing a dream placement is always a special milestone for every management student. For Ramit Tejpal, a student of Apeejay School of Management (Batch 2026) specialising in Marketing and Operations, the moment he received his placement offer from ICICI Bank as a Relationship Manager was one filled with pride, excitement, and a strong sense of achievement. In this candid conversation, he talks about the competitive interview process, his internships, his passion for meeting new people, and the confidence that helped him stand out among 43 applicants.

Read edited excerpts:

How did you feel when you received the placement offer from ICICI Bank?
I was extremely nervous during the interview, but when I finally got selected, it felt like a huge achievement. I was genuinely happy and proud of myself.

Can you walk us through the complete interview and selection process?
Yes. A total of 43 students applied because the CTC was quite good. The first round was shortlisting based on resumes, which reduced the number to 21. Then we had an aptitude test through a Google Form.

The final stage was the personal interview. There were two panels and around 10 students per panel. My interview lasted 25 minutes – the longest one! They asked me many questions including the meaning of my name. I said Ramit means “charming personality” – and they agreed because the vibe was good!

What they appreciated most was when I confidently said I am ready to relocate anywhere, even abroad. I told them, “At the age of 22, I want to explore and meet new people. Even if your bank opens in Afghanistan or Pakistan, I’ll go!” They laughed and said — when that happens, they will send me.

You mentioned internships played a big role. Can you tell us about them?
I completed five internships, including:
• ARB Bearings Ltd
• Elite Foods (manufacturers of rice)
• LT Foods Ltd.
• MPRA (15-day internship)
• And the most exciting — Hero MotoCorp, which I loved working with

These internships gave me practical exposure and talking points during the interview.

Which subjects at ASM helped you most during placements?
Marketing concepts helped a lot! Our faculty for field knowledge and for Digital & Social Media Marketing — made us industry-ready. Models like the AIDA model were very useful during the interview.

What excites you the most about your upcoming role?
I love meeting new people and learning from them. Being from a business family, I want to grow beyond my comfort zone and explore different places. This role is perfect for that.

Q6. According to you, what are the top strengths that helped you get selected?
• Confidence — more important than fluent English
• Charming personality & professional appearance
• Strong internship experience

As freshers, internships show real corporate exposure, and that helped me a lot.

Your advice for juniors preparing for placements?
Marks matter less than self-belief and skills. Even students with higher CGPAs were there, but I got selected. Do internships seriously — that’s where you gain confidence and the knowledge interviewers want. Believe that you can do it.
