For Sanchali Yadav, an alumna of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park (Batch of 2023–24), engineering wasn’t just a career decision — it was almost tradition. Surrounded by engineers in her family, she found her calling in Computer Science and is currently pursuing B Tech at Galgotias College. In this reflective interview, she speaks about the school that stood by her, the journey of finding confidence in college, and how chemistry, not math, stole her academic heart. Read edited excerpts:

So, Sanchali, what are you currently pursuing and where?

I’m pursuing B Tech in Computer Science from Galgotias College.

And what inspired you to take up engineering?

Honestly, most people in my family are engineers. My father is one, and so is my aunt. So, I always felt like engineering was the natural path for me.

But why did you choose Computer Science as your branch?

It’s because Computer Science is everywhere now. It’s the most widely used field, and it opens up so many career avenues. You can do almost anything with it.

Have you thought about what’s next after BTech?

I might go for M Tech in the USA, but I haven’t decided yet. Still exploring my options.

You’re in your second year now. What have been some of your biggest learnings in college so far?

I’ve grown a lot socially. I was always introverted, but college helped me open up. I’ve participated in extracurriculars like dancing and I’ve learned to talk to people confidently.

And academically?

I’ve learned programming languages like C and C++, attended math lectures — it’s been a good learning experience overall.

That is lovely! So, what are your short-term goals at the moment?

Right now, I want to maintain a good CGPA so that I can apply to study abroad. That’s my main focus.
