She is a homemaker but also a partner in her husband’s business. And while she is not very hands-on, she has all the knowledge about what is happening. She did her BCom (Hons) and MCom (Hons) from Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, thereby spending five years here. Meet Priyanka Gulati, an alumna of the institute, whose kids study at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg.
In a candid interview, she talks about what she appreciates about Apeejay Education, among other things.
Do you have any memorable experiences from ACFA?
Yes, college life was very memorable. The teachers were excellent. I remember a few faculty who were excellent. A faculty member who taught us Economics was brilliant and inspired me a lot. So much so that I ended up pursuing BCom and then MCom.
How has your education at this institute helped you in life?
Though I haven’t applied my studies practically, I can teach my kids with the education I received. My background in Fine Arts and Economics helps me understand and support my husband’s business in a more informed way.
How did you choose Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg?
I am an alumna of ACFA and well aware of the ethos that Apeejay Education stands for. I received very good reviews about the school. Initially, I felt it was a little far from where we lived, but distance wasn’t a concern. I know Apeejay School is the best, so there was no doubt about it. The Principal is very supportive and helpful.
Also, many of my kids’ cousins study here. My niece has won the state-level competition in yoga due to the support of her yoga teacher at the school.

How has your children’s journey been at the school?
I have two sons. The elder one is in class V, and the younger one is in LKG. Their journey has been good. The teachers have supported us a lot. The teachers guide me whenever I have a problem. The younger son, who has been here from the beginning, is doing very well. My elder son joined this school in class III in mid-session. The teachers were extremely cooperative.
Do your children participate in extracurricular activities?
My younger son participates in activities that are organised at school. My elder son hasn’t participated in sports yet due to the timing. If sports were included during school hours, he might have taken part.

What values have your children learnt from the school?
They have learnt important values like respecting elders, which I believe is one of the biggest values today.
What do you appreciate the most about the school?
The motivation they provide. The school appreciates children by giving prizes, trophies, and medals, encouraging them to do better even for the smallest achievement. I have friends whose kids are in other schools, and they tell me that their kids don’t get any recognition unless they rank No. 1. The fact that Apeejay School acknowledges even the smallest victory motivates the kids to do better each time.
