Climate Change: Small Actions lead to big impact!

These days, we are facing a big problem that is all around us, from the unseasonal rains in September to the extreme cold weather in February.

The annoying problem is known as Climate Change. This change is a huge problem and is killing every human being. Climate change is basically the long term changes in weather patterns and temperatures due to the Anthropogenic activities of human beings, which are leading to a rise in the effects of greenhouse gases.

Due to extreme hot weather, we often feel sick and cannot play even if we desire to go to a playground and feel the fresh air, and we feel so locked and so miserable when we have to attend online classes during winter for 3 weeks. For the last 5-6 years, due to a rise in pollution and fog in our areas, we are giving our eyes to the screen in a room of our houses where we feel isolated and patiently live with the hope that offline classes will start soon.

So now, this has to be stopped, and we have to “Save the World” by doing small acts in our homes, which lead to a big impact in our surroundings.

Someone said, “Man removes the mountain by removing small stones”. In the same way, small actions can be done to decrease the impact of the climate crisis or the Cli-Fi crisis.

This movement should begin by making small changes in the surroundings we live in because, as stated above, small actions make a big impact on our society.

Small actions we can do at our home:

  • We should switch to LED lights at night and use natural light to illuminate the house during the day. By doing this, we are decreasing our electricity bill, and also, LED lights contain no toxic material and can be recycled. It will help us to reduce the carbon footprint by up to a third.
  • We can eat more plant-based meals and locally available foods to reduce wastage because most of the greenhouse gases are emitted from the waste. By buying locally and seasonal food, we get more fresh and nutritious food, and it protects biodiversity.
  • Whenever we observe water leaking from taps, we tend to ignore it, which leads to huge water wastage. Rather, we should immediately call the plumber and get it mended to prevent the scarcity of water.

There are many such small actions that we shall do to protect our environment. It is very necessary to do these “small actions” as climate change mostly happens due to household activities done by us.

I would like to conclude by writing that doing these small actions will help us to give a more stable,  resilient, and happy future for the next generation, and they will feel blessed to sleep under Mother  Earth’s lap. Let us all make a promise to save our Mother Earth and try to repay the favour with love and care!
