The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially announced the date for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026. The national-level entrance examination for admission to five-year integrated undergraduate law programmes will be conducted on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
The application process, which began on August 1, 2025, will continue till October 31, 2025. Candidates aspiring to pursue law from the prestigious NLUs are advised to complete their registration before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues or delays. The registration form and related details are available on the official website — consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
Before filling out the form, applicants must carefully review the CLAT UG 2026 eligibility criteria to ensure they meet the required academic and other qualifications. As per the Consortium’s guidelines, candidates must have completed or be appearing for their Class 12 or equivalent examination to be eligible. Those belonging to the General, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO, or OCI categories must have secured at least 45% marks, while a minimum of 40% marks is required for SC/ST candidates.
There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CLAT examination, and candidates of Indian as well as NRI, PIO, OCI, and foreign national status are eligible to apply. Additionally, there is no restriction on the number of attempts, allowing aspirants multiple chances to qualify.
The CLAT 2026 will serve as the gateway to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by participating NLUs across India, including popular courses such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc LLB, and B.Tech LLB, along with LLM programmes.
Conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities, CLAT is one of the most sought-after law entrance examinations in the country. The test assesses candidates’ aptitude in areas such as English, current affairs, logical reasoning, legal reasoning, and quantitative techniques.
With the exam date now confirmed, aspiring law students have less than two months to finalise their applications and begin focused preparation for the December test — a crucial step toward securing admission to India’s premier National Law Universities.
