Raising awareness and fostering green habits, students of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar were encouraged to plant saplings in their neighborhoods, embracing nature and taking a stand against plastic pollution. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation, with students selecting spots in parks, community areas, and their own backyards to plant trees. What made the effort unique was the conscious avoidance of plastic—be it pots, wraps, or other non-biodegradable materials—ensuring the activity remained aligned with the campaign’s message.

The students recorded their plantation efforts and shared them on social media using relevant hashtags to amplify the message and inspire their peers. These posts were a powerful testament to how collective action at the grassroots can bring about significant environmental change.

Sharing his thoughts on this initiative, Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC said, “A lot is already happening to beat plastic pollution with the help of science. But what is required now is a surge of consistent efforts to speed up actions against fighting pollution.”

He further applauded the students for taking tangible steps and stressed that such eco-conscious efforts must become an ongoing practice rather than a one-day activity. In addition to the plantation drive, students pledged to reduce plastic use, adopt sustainable practices, and serve as active voices for climate campaigns.

The event not only created environmental awareness but also instilled a sense of purpose and responsibility among the youth. By choosing trees over plastic, AIMETC students showcased how simple yet meaningful actions can contribute to a healthier planet.
