“Champions keep playing until they get it right,” aptly stated by Billie Jean King, set the tone for Sports Day 2026, organised by Apeejay Institute of Design (AID), New Delhi. The event was planned to offer students a refreshing break from academic rigor while reinforcing the institute’s commitment to holistic development. Emphasising the importance of physical fitness in nurturing creative, focused, and agile minds, the Sports Day emerged as a vibrant celebration of energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The day commenced with the ceremonial waving of the flag, which infused the campus with excitement and marked the beginning of the much-anticipated festivities. Students, faculty members, and volunteers gathered with high spirits, ready to participate in a wide array of engaging recreational and competitive activities. The event schedule featured a thoughtfully curated mix of fun-based and strength-oriented games designed to encourage maximum participation and enjoyment.

Among the highlights were Balloon Dribbling Warm-Up, Bull’s Eye, Three-Legged Race, Lemon Race, Dress-Up Race, Crab Walk, Jalebi Race, Musical Chairs, and Paper Dance, which brought laughter and cheer across the grounds. Physical strength and endurance were tested through Push-Ups, Arm Wrestling, and the ever-energetic Tug of War, where students displayed determination and teamwork. The diversity of activities ensured that every participant, regardless of physical ability, could be a part of the celebration, making the event inclusive and engaging.

Sports Day 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across programmes, with each activity marked by high energy and a strong sense of fair play. The atmosphere throughout the day was lively and positive, with participants cheering each other on and celebrating collective achievements rather than just individual victories. The involvement of faculty members alongside students further added to the warmth of the occasion, strengthening bonds beyond the classroom.

Reflecting on the experience, Ankita Thakur, IV semester, GDP–Fashion, shared, “The Sports Day organised by our college was super fun and refreshing for all of us. The day started with a warm-up and then moved on to enjoyable activities like saree draping, jalebi bai, and the three-legged race, followed by exciting games like arm wrestling and tug of war where students participated with full enthusiasm. The best part was seeing teachers join in along with students, which made the whole environment playful, lively, and full of laughter. Overall, the event was well organised and gave us a great break from our regular routine, helping us relax, bond, and create lots of happy memories.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Riya Gautam, IV semester, EDD–Interior, remarked, “The College Sports Day was a grand and memorable event that successfully highlighted the importance of sports, physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork among students. The event was executed efficiently, reflecting the dedication of the organising committee, faculty members, volunteers, and participants. From preparations to the announcement of winners, every aspect was carried out smoothly, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere on campus.”

Overall, Sports Day 2026 served as a rejuvenating platform that promoted physical well-being, reinforced team spirit, and enriched campus life. The event left participants with renewed energy, stronger connections, and lasting memories, reaffirming the institute’s belief in balancing academic excellence with co-curricular engagement.
