Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram dedicated a day to celebrate unity with great enthusiasm and reverence, paying tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision and leadership played a pivotal role in unifying the nation. The event aimed to remind students, faculty, and staff of the importance of unity, integrity, and national security—values that form the foundation of India’s strength.
The solemn ceremony began with the gathering of faculty members, students, and administrative staff at the university premises. The atmosphere resonated with patriotic energy as everyone came together to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, celebrated nationwide as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

The highlight of the event was the enlightening address delivered by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, who emphasised the timeless relevance of Sardar Patel’s ideals in today’s era. He spoke about the monumental role Patel played in integrating over 500 princely states into the Indian Union, ensuring that India emerged as a united, independent nation. The Vice Chancellor urged students to take inspiration from Patel’s determination, leadership, and vision, and to actively contribute to maintaining the unity and harmony of the country.

Following the address, the Vice Chancellor administered the National Unity Day Pledge to all present. The participants, with a deep sense of pride and responsibility, repeated after him: “I solemnly pledge that I dedicate myself to preserve the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among my fellow countrymen. I take this pledge in the spirit of unification of my country which was made possible by the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I also solemnly resolve to make my own contribution to ensure internal security of my country.”
The collective recitation of the pledge filled the hall with a sense of solidarity and patriotic fervour.

The event also saw the presence and active participation of Registrar Sir, Padhan Sir, Vyas Sir, Amit Sir, Sonam Ma’am, and several other faculty members, whose efforts contributed immensely to the success of the occasion. Their presence added to the spirit of togetherness and inspired students to uphold the values of discipline, cooperation, and national pride.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and all faculty members for their guidance and support. The observance of National Unity Day at the university served as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity in diversity and the shared responsibility of every citizen in safeguarding the nation’s integrity.
