‘Celebrating the legacy of an inspiring patron of arts and education’

Birth Anniversaries allow us to honour and remember the contributions and achievements of the individual, ensuring their legacy continues to inspire future generations. Such celebrations help preserve cultural and historical heritage, keeping the memory of significant figures alive and relevant in contemporary society.

For the same, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Smt Rajeshwari Paul,  the first lady of the Apeejay Stya Group and the wife of Dr Stya Paul, Late FounderChairman of Apeejay Group. The celebration took place within the school auditorium. The event was filled with heartfelt tributes and artistic expressions, honouring the remarkable life and legacy of Smt Rajeshwari Paul. 

The celebration commenced with a floral tribute, accompanied by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The audience was then immersed in the spiritual ambiance created by the rendition of the Gayatri mantra and soulful bhajans. This auspicious start set the tone for the rest of the event, which was dedicated to honoring the inspiring life journey of Smt Rajeshwari Paul. Her passion for dance, music, and sports was highlighted, showcasing her multifaceted personality and enduring legacy.

Ms Sangeeta Nistandra, Principal of the school, took the stage to share a special message from  Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University. The message was filled with pride and reverence, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the lasting impact of Smt Rajeshwari Paul’s contributions to the arts and education.

As a tribute to Smt Rajeshwari Paul’s love for the arts, the event featured an array of classical dance performances. Both solo and group dances were presented, reflecting the rich cultural heritage that she cherished. Faculty members also contributed to the celebration by reciting poems centered around themes such as women empowerment and the celebration of diverse art forms, adding a literary dimension to the event.

A special talk was delivered to honor Ms Mrinalini Sarabhai, a renowned Indian dancer and the wife of the eminent physicist and astronomer, Vikram Sarabhai. This tribute highlighted the connection between two extraordinary women who dedicated their lives to the arts and education, drawing parallels between their contributions and the inspiration they provided to generations.

A special art exhibition was also organised within the school premises, featuring works from budding artists. This exhibition served as both a tribute to Smt Rajeshwari Paul Ji’s inspirational legacy and an encouragement to young talents to pursue their artistic passions.

The day concluded on a sweet note with the distribution of sweets among the students, leaving them with fond memories of the celebration. This was followed by a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to making the celebration a success. This centennial celebration not only honoured the life and legacy of Smt Rajeshwari Paul Ji but also reinforced the values of art, culture, and education that she held dear.  

It was a day of reflection, celebration, and inspiration, ensuring that her spirit continues to inspire the Apeejay community for generations to come.
