Stories connect the world and remove all wordly differences. Indeed, in the realm of words, we are all one and this message of humanity is at the heart of literature. Literature beyond this eternal service to mankind, also helps in sharpening the axis of the mind and heart and helps one become a better human being. Can then there be a better idea than for students to explore literature through the firm and loving hand of Ruskin Bond’s stories?
Class 7 students at Apeejay School, Noida, recently participated in a captivating story narration activity, celebrating the timeless tales of celebrated author Ruskin Bond. Held in the Senior Library, the event was hosted by Wrig Bhardwaj of Class 8, setting the tone for an engaging session of storytelling and literary appreciation.
The special guest, Vice Principal Ms. Puneeta Bhasin, encouraged and acknowledged the students’ hard work and dedication towards reading. Her words inspired the young participants to continue exploring the wonders of literature, emphasising that reading enhances empathy, imagination, and cultural understanding.

In this immersive session, students narrated several of Ruskin Bond’s beloved stories, including The Tunnel, The Angry River, The Hidden Pool, The Blue Umbrella, and more. With careful attention to voice modulation, expressive gestures, and engaging delivery, each participant brought Bond’s characters and storylines to life. Through their performances, the students not only captured the essence of the narratives but also shared their unique viewpoints on Bond’s memorable tales. They could understand in true terms why books are deemed as a man’s best friend.
The activity was filled with enjoyment and learning, as each storyteller presented the main ideas, characters, and vivid details of their selected story. For students, the session offered a chance to develop public speaking skills and narrative techniques while deepening their appreciation for Bond’s ability to depict simple yet profound moments of life in the hills of India.
This event left an indelible impact, inspiring many students to delve further into the world of literature. With every story told, the roof echoed with enthusiasm, making it a truly unforgettable day for all.
