The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated with great enthusiasm in schools to instil cultural values and foster a sense of unity among students. The festival, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, serves as an opportunity to educate children about his teachings on righteousness, devotion, and the triumph of good over evil. Through activities like dances, plays, and creative competitions, schools engage students in learning about their heritage
For the same, the festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with great zeal at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar. The school reverberated with the soulful melodies of bhajans sung by the students, invoking the blessings of Lord Krishna. The event saw young students dressed in vibrant traditional attire, resembling the divine figures of Lord Krishna and Radha, bringing the essence of the festival to life.
The highlight of the celebration was a mesmerising dance performance presented by students from classes III, IV, and V. Through their graceful movements, they depicted the birth and life of Lord Krishna, capturing the audience’s attention and creating a spiritual ambience. The performance was a beautiful blend of devotion and artistry, reflecting the cultural richness that Apeejay School, Model Town, strives to imbibe in its students.
Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University, has always been a strong advocate for nurturing cultural awareness among students. She believes that celebrating festivals like Janmashtami plays a crucial role in connecting students with their heritage and values. The event was a testament to this belief, with every aspect meticulously planned to offer a holistic learning experience.

The officiating Principal of the school, Mrs Priyanka Grover, felicitated the teachers for their dedicated efforts in organising such a spectacular event. She praised their commitment to ensuring that the students not only enjoy the festivities but also imbibe the teachings of Lord Krishna. Mrs Grover also encouraged the students to follow the path of righteousness, as exemplified by Lord Krishna, and to apply these principles in their daily lives.
The Headmistress, Mrs Namrata Sharma, lauded the collective efforts of the students and teachers. She highlighted the importance of engaging in cultural activities like the Mukut Making competition, which took place alongside the dance performances, as it fosters creativity and teamwork among students.
“At Apeejay, we learn, we grow, Together we strive, together we glow. With hearts of courage and minds of might, We chase our dreams, we reach new heights,” Mrs Sharma said. These words beautifully encapsulate the spirit of Apeejay School, where every celebration is an opportunity for students to grow, learn, and shine.
