On Sunday, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) made an important announcement, stating that it has entered into 15 memorandums of understanding (MOUs). These MOUs have been signed with the aim of fostering Skill Education, Assessment, and Capacity Building of teachers.

CBSE has collaborated with various esteemed skill providers, including Atal Innovation Mission, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council, Automotive Sector Skill Council, Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council, Logistics Sector Skill Council, Furniture and Fittings Sector Skill Council, Life Sciences Sector Skill Council, Textiles Sector Skill Council, and Healthcare Sector Skill Council. These partnerships are geared towards equipping students with a diverse range of expertise and ensuring access to top-notch infrastructure, as well as exposure to emerging technologies, according to an official statement.

As part of these collaborations, the aforementioned skill providers will extend their support to CBSE in developing skill modules and study materials for skill subjects. Furthermore, they will be involved in organising competitions and hackathons for students, and play a key role in training teachers in various skill domains, as highlighted in CBSE’s press statement.

In addition to this, the Central Square Foundation (CSF) will be assisting CBSE in implementing SAFAL, a competency-based census assessment, as recommended in the National Education Policy (NEP). This assessment will be conducted for students in grades 3, 5, and 8, with the aim of fostering school development. The partners will collectively work on developing high-quality competency-based assessments for conducting SAFAL in the mentioned grades.
