The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an updated timetable for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for 2026, announcing changes to a limited number of papers that were earlier fixed for March 3, 2026. According to the Board, the revision has been made for administrative reasons. CBSE clarified that the overall exam schedule remains largely intact, with only the specified subjects affected by the change.
An official communication dated December 29, circulated to principals of CBSE-affiliated schools, confirms that exams for 13 Class 10 subjects have been deferred. These papers will now be conducted on March 11, 2026, instead of the earlier March 3, 2026, date.
The subjects impacted include Tibetan, German, National Cadet Corps, Bhoti, Bodo, Tangkhul, Japanese, Bhutia, Spanish, Kashmiri, Mizo, Bahasa Melayu, and Elements of Bookkeeping and Accountancy. Schools have been instructed to promptly inform students and parents to avoid confusion.
For Class 12, only the Legal Studies exam has been rescheduled. The paper, initially planned for March 3, 2026, will now take place on April 10, 2026. CBSE has confirmed that no other Class 12 subject has been affected.
The Board has also stated that on the first day of the Boards, all Class 10 and Class 12 papers will be held in a single shift from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Students appearing for the 2026 Board exams are advised to carefully review the revised datesheet and adjust their preparation plans accordingly. CBSE has also urged candidates to stay in regular contact with their schools and rely only on official board notifications for accurate updates.
