The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the syllabus for the academic year 2025-26, introducing significant changes aimed at improving student learning and assessment.

Two Board Exams for Class 10
Starting from 2025-26, Class 10 students will take board exams twice a year – in February and April – allowing flexibility to improve scores.

Competency-Based Learning
The curriculum will focus on conceptual understanding through competency-based questions rather than rote memorisation.

Revaluation Process Overhaul
The board has reformed the revaluation system to enhance transparency and fairness.

Subject-Specific Guidelines
CBSE has introduced experiential learning, project-based assignments, and
technology-enabled education to enhance the curriculum.

CBSE Class 10 Syllabus Updates

The assessment for Class 10 will follow a 9-point grading system, with 80 marks for theory and 20 for internal assessment. Students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject to pass. Subjects like Science, Mathematics, and Social Science remain key, while elective options include music, painting, NCC, and computer applications.

CBSE Class 12 Syllabus Updates

Class 12 board exams will continue to be held once a year, starting February 17, 2026. New skill electives such as Land Transportation Associate, Electronics & Hardware, and Design Thinking have been introduced. The grading system will follow the 9-point scale, and students can now opt for only one IT-related subject from Informatics Practices, Computer Science, or Information Technology.

CBSE’s shift toward experiential and competency-based learning aims to enhance critical thinking and conceptual clarity. With these reforms, the board ensures a more flexible and student-friendly education system.
