In a move to encourage and support the education of meritorious female students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for applications under the CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child to November 20, 2025.
The scholarship aims to promote the education of single girl children by rewarding academic excellence among students who have passed the CBSE Class 10 Board Examination and are now pursuing studies in Classes 11 and 12 at CBSE-affiliated schools.
As per the official notification, students who qualified the Class 10 examination in 2025 can submit their applications online through the CBSE’s official website, cbse.gov.in, until the revised deadline. The Board has also extended the renewal application window for students who received the scholarship in 2024, allowing them to continue availing financial support for the ongoing academic session.
The Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme underscores CBSE’s commitment to empowering girls through education. To be eligible, candidates must be the only child of their parents, have scored at least 70% marks in the Class 10 board examination, and be enrolled in Classes 11 or 12 in a CBSE-affiliated school.
Additionally, the tuition fee during Class 10 must not have exceeded ₹2,500 per month, and for Classes 11 and 12, it should not exceed ₹3,000 per month. The applicant’s family income should be below ₹8 lakh per annum, supported by a notarised self-declaration submitted during the online application process.
The initiative has been widely appreciated for motivating young girls to excel academically while easing their families’ financial burden. By extending the application timeline, CBSE aims to ensure that all eligible students can apply without difficulty and continue their educational journey with confidence and support.
Students are advised to visit the official CBSE website and carefully follow the instructions while filling out the application form before the deadline.
