The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially debunked recent rumors circulating on social media about changes to the 2025 Board exams for classes X and XII. In an official statement, the Board clarified that there are no plans to reduce the syllabus by 15 per cent or introduce open-book exams, as claimed in various unverified reports.
Vikas Kumar Agrawal, the regional officer of CBSE, urged students, parents, and the public to rely solely on information from CBSE’s official website and ignore misleading posts found online. The rumours emerged following a recent educational summit in Indore, where reports suggested the proposed changes were aimed at reducing student stress and aligning with the New Education Policy’s holistic approach.
Refuting the claims, CBSE’s statement emphasised, “CBSE has not made any such change in its examination system or internal evaluation system, nor has any official information been issued in this regard.” The Board further clarified that any changes, if planned, would be communicated directly through its official website.

CBSE also confirmed that for the 2024-25 academic session, the single-term exam format will remain in place for both classes X and XII. The two-term system will be implemented starting from the 2025-26 session, meaning no changes will occur for students preparing for the 2025 Board exams.
Students can expect the official date sheet for the 2025 Board exams to be released by the end of November 2024, and it will be available for download on the official CBSE website, cbse.nic.in. The exams for class X are set to begin on February 15, 2025, with completion expected by the second week of March, while class XII exams will conclude in the first week of April 2025.
