CBSE Class XII Political Science Tips: “Draw flowcharts in long answers to better illustrate arguments”

With CBSE Board Examinations approaching, Class 12 Political Science students are gearing up for one of the most conceptual and analytical subjects in the Humanities stream. A strong CBSE Class 12 board exam strategy not only boosts confidence but also ensures accuracy in writing answers within the given time. To help students prepare smarter, Ms Praveen, Political Science Teacher at Apeejay School, Pitampura, shared important success mantras, exam hacks and last-minute revision tips for CBSE Class 12.

NCERT is the ultimate key to scoring full marks

According to Ms Praveen, a cent-percent score is achievable if students thoroughly revise NCERT textbooks. “All maps, cartoons, illustrations, flow diagrams and news clippings must be revised carefully, especially for competency-based MCQs,” she emphasised.

She recommends students include keywords from NCERT and keep answers crisp, well-structured and supported with relevant examples.

Analytical Answers: Think, link and present smartly

Political Science is not about memorising. It requires conceptual clarity and analytical approach.

Ms Praveen advised:

  • Focus on understanding concepts and theories rather than rote learning.
  • Include examples from Indian politics and international relations.
  • Analyse implications of policies/events and link them with current affairs.
  • Draw flowcharts in long answers to better illustrate arguments.

Use Real-World Examples

To enhance the quality of responses, students must use recent global and national examples:

  • Russia–Ukraine war
  • Terrorism and environmental issues
  • India’s foreign policy initiatives, BRICS and ASEAN
  • India’s role in international politics

“Co-relate Indian and World Politics topics to write smart and informed answers,” she added.

Avoid Common Mistakes

Students should be careful of:

  • Misinterpretation of questions
  • Weak or missing examples
  • Poor time management and handwriting
  • Lack of proper conclusion

These errors can reduce marks despite knowing the content well.
