With the CBSE Class X Biology board examination approaching, students must understand both the syllabus and the marking scheme to plan effective preparation. The paper is designed to assess conceptual clarity, application, and analytical skills. It carries 80 marks, with 20 marks for internal assessment.
Mrs Bhupesh Grewal, TGT Biology at Apeejay School, Pitampura, explains that “Under the CBSE Class X Science Examination Pattern 2026, the Biology section carries 30 marks with 16 compulsory questions, including MCQs, short-answer questions, a case-based question, and a long-answer question. Students must strictly follow the prescribed section-wise format while writing answers.
Mrs Grewal further points out a few important tips to ace the exam well.
“Effective preparation in Biology depends on thorough NCERT-based revision, with emphasis on definitions, key concepts, and accurate scientific terminology. Answers should be presented in a clear, structured manner, using headings, sub-points, and underlined keywords. Regular practice of well-labelled diagrams, particularly the human heart, nephron, reflex arc, reproductive systems, and Mendelian crosses, is essential, as neat presentation and conceptual clarity significantly enhance scoring potential.”
