Achieving top marks in the CBSE 12th result is no small feat, and this year, four students from Apeejay School, Noida have distinguished themselves with stellar performances. Among the top scorers are Aditya Singhdeo, Maitri Maheshwari, Bhavya Tiwari, and Ananya Jha. In this interview, we explore their stories of perseverance, strategic planning for preparation, and more.
Aditya Singhdeo: A Humanities prodigy with a passion for learning

School topper Aditya scored an impressive 99% in the CBSE Class 12, a feat that even he found surprising. “I did believe that I performed exceedingly well in History, so I expected a centum there, but English and Psychology were unexpected. It did come as a slight surprise to me,” Aditya shared. His approach to preparation was straightforward but effective: “I mostly did revision from my NCERT books and some reference books for subjects like economics. I didn’t study excessively—just one to three hours a day.”
Economics posed the biggest challenge for Aditya initially. “Economics was a new subject for me in 11th grade, and I couldn’t grasp it without taking an interest in it,” he explained. His Apeejay teacher played a crucial role in making the subject engaging. By fostering a genuine interest in the subject, Aditya was able to overcome his difficulties. “Once I took a willing interest, it made sense to me and became much more manageable,” he said.
Aditya also shared his advice for future students. “Consistent studying and keeping engaged with hobbies is key. Don’t stress too much over pre-boards, and keep hobbies alive to avoid burnout,” he emphasised. Regarding study materials, Aditya relied heavily on NCERT books and found Sandeep Garg’s books useful for economics. Looking ahead, Aditya has his sights set on BITS Mumbai for a bachelor’s degree in visual design. His interest in design and visual arts is driving his next academic pursuit.
Maitri Maheshwari: Striking a balance for success in Commerce

Maitri, who achieved a remarkable 98.8% in the CBSE Class 12, attributes her success to a balanced lifestyle. “I was very happy with my score. I expected around 97, but getting 98.8 was really shocking,” Maitri admitted. Her unique strategy included taking breaks, indulging in hobbies like playing the drums, and watching movies to stay calm. “I was very consistent from day one, studying a little every day instead of cramming,” she added.
Maths was initially challenging for Maitri, despite it being her favourite subject. “Maths was tough, but because it was my favourite, I was motivated to work harder,” she explained. Maitri found the support from her teachers invaluable. “They were always there for me, both academically and emotionally, providing constant encouragement and constructive feedback,” she said.
Maitri’s advice for the next batch is to maintain a balance between studies and leisure. “Take breaks, enjoy your school year, and balance your studies to score well.” For study materials, Maitri found sample papers and past year questions to be the most helpful. “Sample papers were the most helpful. Sticking to NCERT was the best,” she noted. Aiming for SRCC (Shri Ram College of Commerce) to pursue Economics Honours, Maitri has aspirations to become an economist and is currently preparing for her CUET exam.
Bhavya Tiwari: Mastering Non-Medical Subjects with Consistency and Focus

Bhavya, achieved an impressive 98.6% in the Non-Medical stream. Reflecting on his scores, Bhavya said, “I felt they were good, no hard feelings. It was around the expectations only, but I did not have many expectations also because I did not think too much.”
Bhavya’s preparation strategy was methodical. “First of all, you should thoroughly read your NCERT and other CBSE textbooks. Doing past papers is also very helpful. I did around five years of past papers and even gave a mock test to prepare strategies,” he explained. Among his subjects, English demanded more effort. “English was slightly more demanding than others. There is nothing special you can do, you just read the textbook and practise the papers,” he added.
Regarding study materials, Bhavya found resources like Pradeep’s and Arihant’s past papers most helpful. His advice for future students is simple but crucial: “Live with the studies and complete whatever you start and don’t leave it in between.” Bhavya aspires to attend a top IIT, with a preference for Delhi or Bombay, to study Computer Science Engineering.
Ananya Jha: Navigating the Challenges of Commerce with Perseverance

Another stellar performer from Apeejay School, Noida is Ananya who achieved a 98% in the Commerce stream. Reflecting on her results, Ananya said, “I was elated! Though I did hope for a centum in at least one subject, I missed it by a mark. So I suppose I was disappointed in that respect. Anyhow, I’m glad all that effort paid off.”
Ananya attributes her success largely to self-study and the unwavering support of her Apeejay teachers. “Honestly, it’s all thanks to my school teachers. I didn’t opt for any extra tuition and to me, self-study is everything. Whatever doubts I had, I got them cleared from my teachers, the internet, and my lovely friends,” she explained.
The subject that posed the greatest challenge for Ananya was Accountancy. “If I didn’t revise a particular concept frequently, I’d forget it in a week and it would feel as if all my effort was for a lost cause. I devoted the most time to this subject towards the end, solving a lot of questions,” she shared.
For the topper, the key study materials were case-study questions and previous-year papers, which helped her grasp application-based questions. Her advice to future students is pragmatic. “Whenever you learn a new topic, go home, revise it, and solve at least one moderate-level question of the same. Once you start lagging behind, it becomes a pain to catch up.” Ananya is currently focused on competitive exams and hopes to attend a prestigious college at Delhi University.
