The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting the Class 12 board exam 2026 from February to April in the traditional pen-and-paper format. As part of the ongoing CBSE board exams 2026, students appeared for the Business Studies paper on 28 March 2026.
The three-hour exam commenced at 10:30 am and concluded at 1:30 pm. Students were given an additional 15 minutes, from 10:15 am to 10:30 am, to read the question paper before beginning the exam.
As per estimates, over 45 lakh students are appearing for the board exams across India and abroad this year.
Format of the Question Paper
The question paper was of 80 marks, with a duration of three hours.
General instructions :
This question paper contained 34 questions.
Marks were indicated against each question.
Answers were to be brief and to the point.
Answers to questions carrying 3 marks were to be between 50 and 75 words.
Answers to questions carrying 4 marks were to be about 150 words.
Answers to questions carrying 6 marks were to be about 200 words.
Students were required to attempt all parts of each question together.
Teacher Analysis
According to Ms. Neha Malhotra, Business Studies Teacher, Apeejay School, Pitampura, the paper was moderate in difficulty and well-balanced, with a clear emphasis on conceptual clarity and application-based learning. It covered all major topics from the syllabus and featured a good mix of MCQs, case-based questions, and assertion-reason items.
“The paper was manageable for well-prepared students and overall scoring. While most questions were straightforward, a few required higher-order thinking skills,” she noted, adding that the paper was aligned with CBSE’s competency-based pattern and sample question paper (SQP).
