The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the Class XII exam for 2025 will take place from February 15 to April 4, 2025, following the conventional pen-and-paper format. The exams will commence with Entrepreneurship as the first subject and conclude with Psychology. Alongside this, the Board has issued the 2025 syllabus, highlighting the key chapters and topics essential for student preparation. Familiarity with the exam pattern is vital for achieving success, as it offers clarity on the marking scheme, question formats, and time allocation for each paper.

Ms Sonika Srivastava, TGT Physics, Apeejay School Nerul, shared the question paper format and study strategies for the students.

The format of the question paper

“The CBSE Class 12 Physics question paper for 2024-25 will be three hours long and worth 70 marks. The paper will have five sections, with each section containing a different type of question,” the educator said.

Section A: 16 questions, including 12 multiple-choice questions and 4 Assertion-Reasoning questions, each worth 1 mark

Section B: 5 questions, each worth 2 marks

Section C: 7 questions, each worth 3 marks

Section D: 2 case study-based questions, each worth 4 marks

Section E: 3 long answer questions, each worth 5 marks

“There will be an internal choice in one question in Section B, one question in Section C, one question in each case study-based question in Section D, and all three questions in Section E. Students must attempt only one of the choices in each of these questions,” Ms Shrivastava stated.
