The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting the Class 12 board exam 2026 from February to April in the traditional pen-and-paper format. As part of the ongoing CBSE board exams 2026, students appeared for the Biology paper on 27 March 2026.
The three-hour exam commenced at 10:30 am and concluded at 1:30 pm. Students were given an additional 15 minutes, from 10:15 am to 10:30 am, to read the question paper before beginning the exam.
As per estimates, over 45 lakh students are appearing for the board exams across India and abroad this year.
Format of the Question Paper
The question paper was of 70 marks, with a duration of three hours, and was divided into 5 sections.
Section A comprised 16 questions of 1 mark each.
Section B had 5 questions of 2 marks each.
Section C included 7 questions of 3 marks each.
Section D consisted of 2 case-based questions of 4 marks each.
Section E had 3 questions of 5 marks each.
Teacher Analysis
According to Ms Deepa Sharma, Academic Coordinator and Biology Teacher at Apeejay School, Faridabad, the overall difficulty level of the paper was “moderate.”
She shared that the question paper was well-balanced and covered the syllabus comprehensively. Most questions were concept-based, giving students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of key topics rather than relying solely on memorisation.
“There were no unexpected or tricky questions,” she noted, adding that the paper remained largely within the familiar framework of the CBSE pattern.
In terms of scoring sections, Ms Sharma highlighted that Sections D and E were relatively easier and offered better scoring opportunities, as they allowed students to elaborate on their answers and apply concepts effectively.
