About 26.60 lakh students are expected to sit for the CBSE Class 10 Board exams in 2026. In Sanskrit for Class 10, the exam carries 80 marks in the written paper plus 20 marks for internal assessment (tests, assignments, projects).
The three-hour theory paper is divided into four sections:
· Section A: Unseen passage (अपठितावबोधनम्) (10 marks)
· Section B: Creative writing (15 marks)
· Section C: Applied grammar (अनुप्रयुक्त व्याकरणम्) (25 marks)
· Section D: Text-based passage/literature (पठित अवबोधनम्) (30 marks)
Internal assessment contributes the remaining 20 marks, making the total 100 marks.
According to Mr Vimal Dwivedi, TGT Sanskrit at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, “This year’s Sanskrit exam calls for focused and strategic preparation. Unlike last year, the paper offers fewer choices, so accuracy and consistent practice are essential.
