As the CBSE results for Class XII were announced for the 2024–2025 academic session, students of Apeejay School, Kharghar, made their mark with exceptional performances. Among the highest scorers were Madhyarla Mahathi and Tarushi Gupta, who both secured 97.6%, followed closely by Anjali Nair with 97.2%. In a candid conversation, the Class 12 CBSE toppers reflected on their board journey, shared their study strategies, and revealed future goals. Their insights can inspire students aiming to shine in the CBSE class of 2025.

Madhyarla Mahathi:

With a keen interest in Commerce, Mahathi explored each subject with genuine curiosity. “Economics, especially micro and macro, helped me understand how the economy functions. Even Business Studies felt like a guide to launching a business,” she shared. Mahathi had also taken standard Maths to strengthen her foundation, saying, “Trigonometry and applied concepts make it more aligned with Economics.”

Her message to juniors is rooted in belief and perseverance. “Have faith in yourself. Sacrifice now to live your dream life in the future,” she says. Reflecting on her CBSE board result, Mahathi shared, “I got a full score in core subjects – Accounts, Business Studies, and Economics – which made me really happy. Though I scored 92 in Maths, I might go for a re-evaluation.”

Mahathi focused heavily on her CBSE board preparation, which also helped her for the CUET exam. “CUET domain subjects overlap with boards. I focused on boards first and studied for English and the General Test later.”

Tarushi Gupta:

Tarushi, who also scored 97.6%, says consistency and a clear routine were her keys to success. “I didn’t study for 20 hours a day. I followed a weekly to-do list with one easy and one difficult subject daily,” she explained. Accounts emerged as her favourite subject. “It felt practical and logical – I understood it clearly.”

Currently targeting top National Law Universities via CLAT, Tarushi is passionate about corporate law. “I’ve always admired how arguments are presented in court and found intellectual property rights fascinating,” she said. Preparing for both CLAT and CBSE boards was a balancing act, but her teachers’ support made it manageable. “I missed a few pre-boards for CLAT, but my teachers trusted my consistency.”

Anjali Nair:

Scoring 97.2%, Anjali’s path was shaped by self-discovery and steady preparation. “I liked Accounts the most – it was logical and didn’t require rote learning,” she shared. Her biggest advice? “Even if you start late, focus on your pre-boards. They give you clarity on where you stand and how to improve.”

Anjali is currently eyeing integrated management programmes (IPM) offered by institutions like IIM Indore and Rohtak. “I realised early on that commerce suited me better than science. Watching my sister’s study materials helped me decide
