The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the examination date for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026. The upcoming session of CTET, which marks the 21st edition of the national-level eligibility test, will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The exam will be conducted in 132 cities across India, offering candidates the choice to appear in any of the twenty languages in which the test is administered. CTET comprises two papers: Paper I for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V, and Paper II for those aiming to teach Classes VI to VIII. Eligible candidates may choose to appear in either one or both papers, depending on their teaching preferences.
CBSE has informed candidates that the detailed Information Bulletin will soon be made available on the official CTET website. The document will include key information such as the examination pattern, syllabus, language options, eligibility conditions, fee structure, the list of examination cities, and the complete schedule of important dates. Candidates are advised to download this bulletin exclusively from the official website and go through all instructions carefully before completing the application process.
Applications for CTET 2026 will be accepted only through online mode on the CTET portal. Prospective candidates are encouraged to regularly visit the official website to stay updated on the release of the bulletin, commencement of registration, and further examination-related announcements.
CTET serves as a mandatory eligibility requirement for teaching positions in central schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), and other institutions that follow CBSE guidelines. With the release of the exam date, aspiring teachers can now begin their final preparation strategy for the February session.
