‘Can there be a greater love than a mother’s in this world?’

Indeed, it is rightly said that since God cannot be at all places all the time, hence he created ‘Mother’. One further realises the importance of mother upon reading the emotionally rich note on the same by Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar student Aahana Duggal.

Selected as this week’s Promising Poet, let us see what the youngling has to say about her literary skills and her admiration for her mother and the great poet William Wordsworth. Read edited excerpts:

At what age did you start writing poetry?

I’ve just begun. This is my first poem.

Oh! Many hearty congratulations! So what inspired you?

My mother inspired me. She is truly my inspiration in life. Whenever I notice how much she works and sacrifices all day to keep us children happy, healthy and secure, that really makes me very emotional. She is my hero.

So this unconditional love towards your mom, made you pen down the short note Mera Jeevan Meri Maa?

You guessed it absolutely right! I think this is the best topic. Can there be a greater love in this world than a mother’s love for her children? Look across all animal species and you will observe how much a mother cares and does for her child.

Well said! So who is your favourite poet and what is your favourite poem?

My favourite poem is Daffodils and as you can guess again, my favourite has to be William Wordsworth. I just love that poem of his. It gives me so much peace and inner strength.

What do you prefer – writing poems in the day or night?

Hahaha, anytime. It’s the idea that has to strike.

And how does your school help you to write such lovely poems?

My school teachers inspire me to write something every time. Their encouragement and support mean a lot to me. It really does wonders for me.

Finally, the best thing about writing poetry for you?

Understanding and portraying the essence of so many beautiful things around me.
