Himanshu! How did you crack such a tough exam? Some inspiration that opens the gate for us too?
Well, I gave the exam last year too. The strategy was to test myself and check the difficulty level of the idea. I understood the exam pattern and come this year, I was motivated to clear it. Moinuddin sir at ASU inspired me so much and prepared me well for the exam. I was determined to clear the exam this time and was guided well by my teachers.
How many hours did you study?
One to two months before the exam I just gave it my all. I did not look at the clock just studied seriously. The only thought in my mind was to clear this exam.
What should a candidate be aware of before taking the exam?
It is all about effective planning. One has to carefully observe and understand the marking scheme and exam question pattern. It is obviously essential to prepare the important topics well. Those will make up for the major part of the exam.
Tips for next year’s aspirants
Solve the previous year question papers. Do regular mock tests. It is key towards clearing GATE. This drill gives a student the much needed idea about the topics and questions that come.
Additionally, solve the mock paper with an alarm by your side. Time management plays a great role in this exam. Most importantly, check for negative marking. In short, calculate your risks!
