The Department of Commerce and Management at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar successfully organised a two-day workshop on Financial Literacy in collaboration with the MAC Forum. The workshop was specially designed for final-year students of B.Com and BBA, aiming to enhance their understanding of financial planning, investment opportunities, and responsible money management.

The sessions were conducted by distinguished resource persons Anita Saini and Nagesh Kumar, both of whom brought extensive expertise and real-world insights to the programme. Their engaging sessions provided students with a comprehensive perspective on managing personal finances and navigating the complexities of financial markets.

Mrs. Anita Saini, a postgraduate in Commerce with over two decades of experience in the banking and financial sector, delivered an insightful session on investment awareness, mutual funds, and financial planning. She highlighted the importance of cultivating sound financial habits from an early stage and encouraged students to adopt disciplined saving and investment strategies. Stressing the significance of informed decision-making, she guided participants on how to evaluate different investment avenues and align them with their financial goals.

CS Nagesh Kumar, a seasoned professional with more than 17 years of experience in compliance management and capital market operations, addressed the students on the regulatory aspects of the financial system. He elaborated on the role of the Securities and Exchange Board of India in ensuring transparency and protecting investor interests in the securities market. His session also focused on investor protection measures, safe investment practices, and the importance of staying informed in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.

The workshop proved to be highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and seeking clarifications on various financial concepts. It provided them with practical knowledge about savings, investments, and the functioning of financial markets, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application.

Principal Neerja Dhingra appreciated the initiative and emphasised the growing importance of financial literacy as an essential life skill. She remarked that in today’s dynamic economic environment, it is crucial for young individuals to be financially aware and responsible. She further noted that such workshops play a vital role in preparing students to make informed financial decisions and become confident investors in the future.

The successful organisation of the workshop reflects the college’s continued commitment to equipping students with practical knowledge and life skills that extend beyond the classroom. By fostering financial awareness and encouraging responsible financial behaviour, the institution is empowering students to secure their financial well-being and navigate future economic challenges with confidence.
