Faculty members from Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Prof. Anushka Goel and Prof. Nupur Soti, recently attended the “IP & Technology Transfer (TT) Workshop” held at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in Jamia Millia Islamia. The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the banner of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) 7.0.

The workshop served as a dynamic platform for gaining hands-on insights into Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Technology Transfer (TT)—two critical areas influencing the innovation and entrepreneurship landscape in higher education. The sessions were designed to help faculty and institutional representatives bridge the gap between research and real-world application through commercialization and innovation-driven strategies.

The event featured expert-led sessions by academicians, IP specialists, and legal professionals, who provided in-depth guidance on patent filing, protection of creative and research-based ideas, and leveraging innovations for market success. Emphasis was placed on understanding the end-to-end process of patenting and the strategic importance of safeguarding intellectual assets within academic institutions.

A key highlight of the workshop was the introduction of national initiatives such as the YUKTI Innovation Challenge and the AICTE Productisation Fellowship. These schemes aim to support promising technologies developed by student and faculty-led startups, thereby promoting innovation in alignment with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.

Sharing her experience, Prof. Anushka Goel remarked, “The workshop was highly enriching, especially the interactive segments that encouraged collaborative learning and professional networking.” She noted that such forums not only strengthen knowledge but also foster valuable connections among institutions, experts, and innovators.

Prof. Nupur Soti echoed similar sentiments, stating, “The initiative contributed to building institutional capacities in innovation and incubation, which are vital for nurturing a robust innovation ecosystem in higher education.” She emphasised the relevance of such training in empowering faculty to play a more active role in ideation, incubation, and entrepreneurial mentoring.

Participation in this workshop underscores ASM’s commitment to continuous faculty development and innovation-driven education. By equipping educators with actionable insights into IPR and technology transfer, ASM strengthens its ability to guide students and startups toward meaningful commercialisation and societal impact.

The event concluded with a renewed focus on transforming India’s academic research ecosystem through strategic collaborations and practical innovation, reinforcing the pivotal role of institutions like ASM in shaping the nation’s entrepreneurial future.
