The Engineering Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, organised an insightful workshop on the theme “Building AI Products that Solve Real-World Problems.” The session was conducted by Mr. Vineet Gupta, AI & Data Science Head and Director, and Mr. Sunny Aulakh, AI Marketing Head and Director at AlgoSchool AI. The workshop aimed to provide students with meaningful industry exposure and a practical understanding of how artificial intelligence is being leveraged to design impactful solutions.

Welcoming the resource persons, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, emphasised that the objective of the workshop was to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. He remarked that exposure to live industry projects and emerging AI tools equips students with relevant skills and enhances their employability in a competitive technological landscape.

The session commenced with a discussion on the transformative role of AI in recruitment and talent acquisition. The speakers explained how artificial intelligence is streamlining resume screening and candidate shortlisting processes. They introduced their AI-driven solution, the Custom Resume Parse API, developed specifically for HR consulting firms and organisations seeking to automate hiring workflows. The system efficiently shortlists resumes and conducts AI-based pre-screening interviews.

Elaborating further, the experts demonstrated how companies can integrate customised questionnaires into the system. AI-powered voice agents then interact with candidates at their convenience, assess responses, evaluate communication skills, and generate a performance score. This innovation not only reduces manual effort but also enhances objectivity and efficiency in recruitment.

The resource persons also introduced various platforms and tools used in developing AI voice solutions, including Vapi. They discussed the concept of an AI Receptionist capable of handling calls and scheduling appointments beyond working hours, thereby improving organisational responsiveness. Another advanced solution presented was Proctoring 2.0—an AI-based monitoring system that tracks eye movement during interviews to ensure integrity and transparency.

Expanding beyond recruitment solutions, the speakers showcased LTIS Edge, a mutual fund monitoring dashboard that recommends investment options based on risk profiles. Additionally, they introduced the FMI Report Translator, an AI system designed to analyse report images and translate content into multiple languages with minimal error rates, highlighting the versatility of AI applications across domains.

The workshop concluded with an engaging interactive session where students posed thoughtful questions regarding the technologies, models, and frameworks underlying these AI products. The speakers addressed each query comprehensively and encouraged students to focus on innovation-driven thinking while building AI solutions that address genuine societal and industry needs.

As a token of appreciation, the institute presented mementos to the resource persons for sharing their valuable expertise. Dr. Rajesh Bagga expressed gratitude to the speakers and reiterated the significance of such knowledge-sharing initiatives. He motivated students to actively participate in expert-led sessions to remain updated with emerging technologies and develop future-ready competencies. The workshop proved to be a highly enriching experience, inspiring students to explore practical and impactful AI innovations.
