On the occasion of World Radio Day, students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts(ACFA) , Jalandhar had an exciting and informative visit to Radio Mirchi, where they got a firsthand experience of the world of radio broadcasting. The visit provided a unique opportunity to explore the functioning of a radio station and understand the role of radio in modern media.

During the visit, the students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication were warmly welcomed by RJ Pearl and RJ Shubham, who shared their insights into the world of radio. They explained the technical aspects of radio production, the process of hosting live shows, and the significance of engaging with listeners. The students learned about scriptwriting, sound modulation, and voice control, which are essential skills for a successful radio career.

Apart from gaining theoretical knowledge, the students actively participated in fun activities. They made reels and vlogs, capturing their experience and showcasing their enthusiasm for radio. Engaging in interactive discussions with the RJs, they explored various trends in the radio industry, content creation techniques, and the impact of digital media on radio broadcasting.

The visit to Radio Mirchi was not only an educational experience but also an inspirational one, as it introduced students to career opportunities in the field of radio and media.

Sharing her thoughts, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, said “On this World Radio Day, we celebrate one of the most powerful mediums of communication—radio. It has played a crucial role in spreading knowledge, promoting culture, and strengthening social connections across the globe. Even in the digital era, radio remains a reliable source of information, especially in remote areas where internet access is limited.”

She further added, “At Apeejay, our prime endeavour is to give students the right kind of exposure of their field for we believe that along with the traditional classroom teaching, the practical experience is of utmost importance.”

Lastly,  Dr. Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Ms. Ritu Sohal and Ms. Kirandeep from the Department for successfully organising this edutainment tour.
