The Department of Psychology at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar successfully organised a two-day event titled Psych Fiesta 2026 to promote mental health awareness and encourage psychological resilience among students. The initiative aimed to create an open and empathetic platform where conversations around emotional well-being could be normalised and meaningfully explored.
The first day featured a series of engaging and creative activities designed to involve students from across the college. A Psychology Quiz Competition tested participants’ knowledge of psychological concepts and mental health issues, while a Poster-Making Competition invited students to express their perspectives on mental health themes through art. An Open Mic session provided a safe space for individuals to share personal reflections, poetry, and experiences related to emotional well-being. The events witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting a growing interest among students in understanding psychological health in both academic and personal contexts.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra highlighted the urgency of mental health discourse in contemporary times. She remarked, “In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven, and highly competitive world, young minds are increasingly vulnerable to stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. Mental health is not a luxury; it is a necessity and Institutions of higher learning must create safe, empathetic spaces where students feel heard, supported, and empowered. Through initiatives like Psych Fiesta, we aim to normalise conversations around mental health and nurture emotionally strong and socially responsible individuals.” Her address set a thoughtful tone for the event and reinforced the institution’s commitment to holistic education.
The second day focused on psychological assessment and self-awareness. Various standardised tests were administered to evaluate Anxiety, Mania, Stress, Life Satisfaction, Happiness, and Life Skills among students and faculty members. Based on the results, participants were offered insights into their behavioural patterns, coping styles, and personality traits. The exercise enabled individuals to better understand their emotional and psychological profiles, encouraging self-reflection and growth.

Renowned psychologist-counsellors Anantpreet Kaur and Pranavcheet Kaur were present during the event. They interacted with students, patiently listened to their concerns, and provided professional counselling. Their guidance encouraged participants to adopt constructive coping mechanisms and positive approaches towards life’s challenges.
To further enrich the experience, interactive stalls such as Art Therapy, Graphotherapy, Meditation sessions, Psychological Games, and a Photo Booth were set up. These activities combined awareness with relaxation and creative expression, ensuring that learning about mental health was both engaging and experiential.
The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra felicitated the winners and appreciated the dedicated efforts of Ms. Niharika and Ms. Harpreet Kaur from the Department of Psychology for the successful organisation of Psych Fiesta 2026. The programme effectively reinforced the message that mental health awareness, emotional intelligence, and self-care are essential pillars of holistic education.
