The NSS Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) , Jalandhar successfully organised a “Women Health and Hygiene Awareness Programme with Sanitary Pads Distribution” in the nearby villages of Jandusinghe and Dhogri. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about menstrual hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and overall well-being among women, while actively addressing the issue of period poverty and breaking long-standing social stigma associated with menstruation.

The program was designed as a community outreach activity under the spirit of social responsibility and preventive healthcare. NSS volunteers, along with faculty members, visited the villages and conducted interactive awareness sessions tailored to the needs of rural women and adolescent girls. The sessions provided essential information about menstrual health management, emphasising the importance of using safe and hygienic sanitary products.

During the awareness drive, participants were educated about the correct usage of sanitary pads, their timely replacement, and safe disposal practices to maintain hygiene and prevent infections. The volunteers also highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, personal cleanliness, and early detection of health-related issues. By addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, the team encouraged open discussions and created a supportive environment where women felt comfortable asking questions and sharing their concerns.

A key component of the initiative was the distribution of sanitary pads to women in the villages. This step not only ensured access to basic hygiene products but also reinforced the message that menstrual health is a natural and essential aspect of women’s well-being. The distribution drive sought to combat period poverty, which often forces women to rely on unsafe alternatives due to lack of resources or awareness.

The program reflected the institute’s strong commitment to community welfare and social upliftment. By stepping beyond the campus and engaging directly with rural communities, the NSS Club demonstrated how educational institutions can play a transformative role in promoting health awareness and dignity. The initiative also emphasised preventive healthcare, encouraging women to prioritise hygiene and adopt healthy practices in their daily lives.

The success of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of NSS volunteers and the guidance of faculty members who meticulously planned and executed the program. Their enthusiasm, compassion, and teamwork ensured that the sessions were impactful and meaningful for the participants.

Overall, the Women Health and Hygiene Awareness Program stood as a significant step toward empowering women with knowledge, resources, and confidence. By addressing sensitive issues with empathy and clarity, the NSS Club not only spread awareness but also contributed to building a healthier and more informed community.
