‘Both my children have grown academically and in confidence’

Her two children, Sahir Sikka, at present in Class VI, and Sahira Sikka, in LKG, study at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg. As a parent, she is proud and grateful to see both her children growing, learning, and developing beautifully at their respective stages. Meet Dr Phalguni Malhotra.

How has your child adjusted to the learning style in Class VI?

My child has adjusted well and is performing excellently, ranking among the class toppers. Much of this credit goes to the teachers, who create a stress-free learning environment. Their clear explanations, step-by-step teaching, and constant encouragement have kept him motivated, confident, and genuinely engaged in learning.

What changes have you noticed in your children since entering middle school?

Since entering middle school, I have seen a remarkable change in Sahir. His confidence and curiosity have grown, and he now asks thoughtful questions. His study habits are more organised and planned. He has become calmer, more disciplined, emotionally stronger, and shows greater maturity in his overall approach to learning.

Which teaching methods have supported your child’s learning the most?

Activity-based learning, regular revision sessions, and the teachers’ clear and patient way of explaining concepts have been helpful. The use of real-life examples, class presentations, and group activities has boosted his confidence and improved his understanding. The teachers also give personal attention, which ensures that no child feels left behind.

How has the school environment contributed to Sahir’s overall well-being?

The school offers a warm, positive, and encouraging environment where my child feels safe, supported, and valued. Along with academics, the school emphasises character building, helping him become emotionally balanced and mentally strong. Because he enjoys school and feels appreciated, his motivation to learn has grown naturally.

An initiative or moment that made you feel your child is in the right place.

There have been many moments that reassured me my child is in the right place, but the emotional support from teachers stands out most. Whenever he feels overwhelmed, confused, or struggles academically, they respond with genuine care and patience. Having interacted with them personally, I admire their warmth and sensitivity. They truly understand children, listen attentively, guide thoughtfully, and consistently strengthen their confidence and emotional well-being. It is these small but meaningful gestures that make me feel we chose exactly the right school for him.

How effectively does the school communicate with you about your child’s progress?

The school communicates very effectively through PTMs, regular diary notes, WhatsApp updates, and detailed academic feedback. I always receive timely information about my child’s performance, strengths, and any areas that may need improvement. This transparent and consistent communication helps us stay involved.
