Reading daily is essential for everyone. One must adapt a habit of daily reading as it may help one get creative, innovative, and remain updated upon their vocabulary. Many things are available to read, like magazines, comics, newspapers, and novels. Newspapers and magazines are the most practiced resources through which people stay updated about most happenings.

Reading daily develops language skills and vocabulary. It is also a way to relax and reduce stress. It is imperative to read a good book at least for a few minutes each day to stretch the brain muscles for healthy functioning.
Books are your best friends as you can rely on them whenever possible, such as when you are bored, upset, depressed, lonely, or annoyed. They will accompany you anytime you want them and enhance your mood. They share information and knowledge any time you need it.
Good books always guide you to the correct path in life. Reading every day is essential for especially children between ages 6 and 10 as it gives a child a head start on expanding their vocabulary and building independence and self-confidence.
It helps children learn to make sense not only of the world around them but also of people, building social-emotional skills and imagination.
Reading a book daily can help you sleep better and enhance your vocabulary.
Studies have also shown that a regular reading habit can:
- • Slow down the cognitive decline in old age.
- • Expand emotional intelligence and well-being.
- • Keep your brain active and engaged.
Here are some tips for making daily reading part of your routine:
• Find a quiet place where you can relax and focus on your reading.
• Set aside some time each day to read, even if it is just for a few minutes.
• Choose books that you are interested in and that you enjoy reading.
• Feel free to re-read books that you love.
• Visit your local library or bookstore regularly.
“Book reading is a way to self-entertaining and makes you knowledgeable. When you read a book, you can visualize it. You can interpret the author’s storytelling in your own way, which can change your life by influencing your mind and thought process. Reading a book daily on the same subject has a long-lasting mental impact. Therefore, I recommend reading a book daily to motivate one to lead a healthy life.” said, Dr. Nita Sharma Das, an expert neuro therapist and a health consultant.
Some books that are must-reads and suitable for all age groups are listed below;
- • Harry Potter (series)
- • Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
- • The Giving Tree
- • City Spies (series)
- • Adventure of Sherlock Holmes (series)
- • To Kill a Mockingbird
- • Anne Frank
- • The Book Thief
If you are not so fond of reading books, you can try listening to Audiobooks. There needs to be more to no difference in comprehension between reading daily and listening to audiobooks. While the brain processes information differently, research from 2021 found that the overall difference in comprehension is negligible.

Everyday reading opens up doors to new worlds, provides entertainment, boosts the imagination, and has positive neurological and psychological benefits. So, if anyone ever asks, “Why is reading daily important” you’re now well-read on the subject to provide a detailed response and share your purpose of reading!
Lastly here are some facts about books and authors that I explored while on my journey of reading:
• Agatha Christie holds the title of the most translated author in the world, with her works available in over 100 languages.
• The popular interactive book series “Choose Your Own Adventure” was created by Edward Packard, inspired by bedtime stories he made up for his children.
• “The Tale of Genji,” written by Murasaki Shikibu in the early 11th century, is often considered the world’s first novel.
• The term “bookworm” originally referred to insects that would bore into books and paper, damaging them. Over time, it evolved to describe avid readers.
• The largest book ever published, “This the Prophet Mohamed” by Dr. Khaled Lafi. It measures 17.07 x 12.19 feet and weighs over a ton.
• The first book to receive copyright protection was “The Diary of Samuel Pepys,” registered in 1667.
There’s an industry term for the smell of a new book – it’s called “bibliomania.” The aroma is a combination of paper, ink, and other chemicals.
