It has been both a pleasure and a proud honour to represent my school in various interschool dance competitions. Each performance helped me grow in confidence and skill. I also had the wonderful opportunity to perform at Noida Haat with my team, making it a truly memorable and enriching experience.
How did you pick interest in Kathak?
My interest in Kathak began out of curiosity and a desire to explore a new realm of dance. As I learned, it not only built my confidence and discipline but also strengthened my connection with Indian classical art forms. The elegance, intricate rhythms, and expressive storytelling of Kathak captivated me deeply, inspiring me to pursue it seriously and embrace it as both a passion and a journey of self-expression.
Who inspired you?
My curiosity and desire to learn something new inspired me to take up Kathak. From childhood, I have always been keen on acquiring new skills. Watching my elder sister perform gracefully and confidently on stage motivated me to pursue Kathak, helping me gain confidence to perform elegantly on stage and at various events.
How has Kathak honed your personality?
Kathak has transformed me from an under confident learner into a confident performer, helping me overcome my fear of performing on stage. It has refined my skills, strengthened my technique, and allowed me to discover my hidden talent and deep passion for dance. Through this journey, I have grown both as an artist and as an individual.
How do you manage academics and dance?
Balancing academics and Kathak has become natural since dance is my passion. I approach Kathak as both a hobby and a way to refresh my mind, dedicating specific time to practice regularly. This not only helps me relax but also improves my concentration and focus, allowing me to perform well in studies. By managing my schedule thoughtfully, I can pursue my love for Kathak while maintaining strong academic performance.
How did your school support your journey?
Apeejay School has been a tremendous support in my dance journey, encouraging me to pursue my passion wholeheartedly. The school has provided platforms and countless opportunities to showcase my talent, both in front of the entire school and at various events and competitions. Their guidance, encouragement, and recognition have boosted my confidence, helping me grow as a performer and pursue Kathak with dedication.
Would you like to take up Kathak as a profession?
I see Kathak primarily as a cherished hobby rather than a profession. Practicing it brings me joy, helps me relax, and refreshes my mind. It keeps my curiosity alive and allows me to express myself creatively, making it a fulfilling and rewarding part of my life without the pressures of a career.
