Meet Shrija Saharia, a Class XII Commerce student at Apeejay School, Noida, with Psychology as her optional subject, an area she aspires to pursue further. Recently conferred with the Principal’s Award, she is curious, empathetic, and enthusiastic by nature. In an impromptu interview, she talks about how she enjoys connecting with people, exploring diverse experiences, and approaching life with balance and openness.
What does getting the Principal’s Award mean to you?
I am grateful to my respected Principal ma’am and teachers for believing in me. Receiving this award recognised my efforts, brought immense joy, and marked a perfect, motivating end to my school journey: Soaring High is My Nature.
Which values or qualities do you think helped you earn this recognition?
I believe consistency, discipline, and commitment to the school were the keys. Balancing academics with co-curricular involvement, taking initiative in events, and fulfilling leadership responsibilities with integrity and empathy helped me contribute meaningfully and grow, ultimately shaping the qualities that earned this recognition.
How has your journey here shaped you academically and personally over the years?
Having spent 14 years at the school, it feels like home. Teachers’ guidance nurtured my academics, confidence, self-awareness, and personal growth, shaping who I am today.
What subjects of learning have influenced your thinking the most, and why?
It’s not so much the subjects that shaped my thinking or beliefs, but my experiences, responsibilities, and activities at school. Psychology helped me slightly understand people better, but the real learning came from taking responsibility, managing time, and engaging in diverse experiences that shaped my perspective and approach to life.

How have co-curricular activities or leadership roles helped you evolve as a student?
Leadership roles, like serving as a Prefect and working with the Falcon MUN Secretariat, built my confidence and sense of responsibility. Active participation in school events nurtured initiative, teamwork, and the ability to balance academics with meaningful contributions beyond the classroom.
What challenges did you face while striving for consistency and excellence, and how did you overcome them?
Balancing academics, leadership roles, and multiple events was often overwhelming. Long days followed by back-to-back meetings brought self-doubt, but pausing, reflecting, and embracing challenges helped me grow and turn stress into valuable lessons.
How do you see your role in inspiring or guiding juniors?
I see my role as being approachable, encouraging, and providing a safe space for juniors to share their thoughts. By sharing my experiences and offering guidance, I hope to instil confidence, clarity, and motivation, helping them navigate school life and embrace their growth with self-belief.
What lessons will stay with you beyond the classroom?
School has taught me to believe in myself, embrace challenges, and strive for success. I’ve learned to explore new experiences, develop skills, and grow through every opportunity. Teamwork, discipline, resilience, and time management have shaped my approach to life, leaving lessons that will guide me far beyond the classroom.
Describe your school journey.
The school has been my home for 14 years, shaping who I am, giving me comfort and a sense of belonging, and filling my life with friendships, learning, and unforgettable experiences. I am forever grateful to my teachers, who have always motivated me and guided me like a mentor and a friend. I love my friends dearly and will always carry this journey in my heart.
