She is at present in Class XI at Apeejay School, Kharghar. She is passionate about freestyle dancing, which she describes as her true source of confidence and self-expression. She also enjoys writing and painting, but dance holds a special place in her life. Inspired by performances and the freedom to create her own moves, she finds freestyle both liberating and deeply fulfilling. Meet Prisca Sisodiya, who, in a candid interview, talks about what helps her stay creative, among other things.

How do you usually decide your moves when you’re dancing freestyle?

I usually let the music guide me. The beats, rhythm, and mood of the song decide my movements. Sometimes I imagine a story while dancing, and my body automatically expresses it.

What kind of music inspires you the most when you dance freestyle?

Energetic beats like hip-hop or electronic music inspire me a lot, but even slow, soulful tracks help me bring out more expressive movements.

Do you mix freestyle with other dance forms you know or admire?

Yes, sometimes I mix it with hip-hop, Bollywood. I admire many dance styles, and blending them makes my freestyle unique.

What helps you stay creative and come up with new moves?

Watching other dancers, listening to different kinds of music, and practising regularly help me stay creative. I also experiment; sometimes I just let my body move naturally, and new steps are born.

How does freestyle dancing make you feel compared to other dance styles?

Freestyle makes me feel free and confident because I don’t have to think about being perfect. Unlike choreographed dances, freestyle feels like a direct conversation between me, the music, and the audience.

In what ways do you think freestyle dance helps you express yourself?

It shows my emotions, energy, and even my mood at that moment. If I am happy, excited, or even thoughtful, my freestyle reflects that. It’s like my personality comes alive through movement.

How does the school/teachers support you?

My school and teachers encourage me a lot. They give me opportunities to perform in events, cheer me on, and guide me whenever I need help. Their support motivates me to keep improving.
