Art has always been her biggest interest, but she also enjoys dancing and music. Drawing makes her feel confident. Through colours, she can express her feelings freely, and that brings her a lot of joy. Meet Aaradhya Gopal, a student of Class VII at Apeejay School, Kharghar. In a candid interview, she reminisces about a painting, among other things.

When did you first realise your interest in art and craft?

I have been drawing since I was very young. My teachers have always encouraged me, and my father, who is also good at art, inspired me a lot. I love creating new ideas and working with colours, which is what drew me deeper into art.

How do you usually express your ideas through your artwork?

I use different colours and materials to turn my imagination into something realistic. I enjoy working with both warm and cool colours to show exactly what I imagine in my mind.

You once made a pencil sketch of a tiger. What inspired that idea?

I wanted to show the fear and anger of the tiger. Although I could have used bright colours, I chose pencils because shading made the artwork look more realistic and intense.

Has any teacher or activity inspired your creative journey?

My school teacher has motivated me since my nursery days. She has always encouraged me to take part in competitions and helped me grow as an artist. Over the years, I have won several competitions. I have also completed six certified art courses.

How does art help you emotionally?

I feel calm and relaxed. There are no rules or fear of making mistakes. I can express my feelings freely through my imagination. Art has helped me become more confident and creative. It has taught me how to express myself through drawings and doodles.

If you had to plan an art activity for your classmates, what would it be like?

I would make it fun and creative. Painting and drawing something new together is always more enjoyable, especially when you are learning new skills with friends.
